About U.A.I.

A brief history of UtiliCor/U.A.I.

  • As the result of a buy-out, all employees, facilities and the thirty-nine years of full line distributor experience associated with the Power Division of Power & Telephone Supply began operation as UtiliCor in July of 2002.
  • In the mid-90’s, while still part of P&T, we began importing custom designed porcelain from Porcelana Gamma in Medellin, Colombia for ABB, Hubbell and Joslyn. It was a good experience and prompted development of a larger importation program but was restricted by the association with P&T.
  • Upon settling in after acouple of years of operating as UtiliCor, we began a renewed focus on developing product lines to import and manage as a manufacturer’s rep. This ultimately led to the development of UAI (UtiliCor Agency and Importation) as operating unit of UtiliCor.

What does U.A.I. do?

U.A.I. has two primary functions.

  • Manage the sales and marketing of the import and agency lines that we represent through the use of direct sales representatives, distributors and contract sales organizations that focus exclusively on the needs of the electric generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy markets.
  • Efectively link our customers and partners to the manufacutrers that we represent.

U.A.I.’s role in the Supply Chain.

With well over a decade of experience sourcing material from off-shore, U.A.I. clearly understands the responsabilities we have to provide only the best available products to our customers in a consistent, reliable fashion. To accomplish this we:
  • Audit each manufacturer’s facility as part of our evaluation of their viability as a supplier to our customers and then re-visit them on a regular basis.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with the manufafcturers that we represent. This gives us an advantage when negotiating price and terms as well as when it comes to resolving any issues that arise. The relationships we develop are of paramount importance because it allows the manufacturers to trust that the information we provide them is accurate and complete.
  • Maintain inventories in the US at our facilities, as well as at the facilities of our distributor partners, to ensure material is available when it’s needed. The items we stock are managed by individuals dedicated to specific product lines and regularly reviewed to ensure that we have the appropriate items, in the appropriate quantities on hand. Inventory reports, delivered weekly via e-mail, are available to our customers upon request.
  • Manage projects and packaging opportunities our customers provide us. We have developed the ability to manage the delivery of large volumes of material, per our customers specifications, utilizing our own facilities and equipment as well as by utilizing the help of out side contractors when neccesary. Beyond managing material, we continue to develop relationships with organizations that allow us to provide services such as turn-key installations of power transformers and high voltage underground cable.
